Trevor Hoffman Signing 6-9-12

I decided to wake up early today to attend the Trevor Hoffman signing at the Grossmont Center Mall. Trevor was scheduled to have a signing at the mall from 11-12. As usual I carpooled with my friend Benson to San Diego.

We arrived around 8:45 and there were already about 100 people waiting in line. Most of the graphers were from SD but there were a few hardcore graphers from Orange County and Los Angeles that were there as well. Since I had some time to kill I took some pictures of the booth that Trevor was going to sign at.

While we were in line they passed out bags of peanuts and cracker jacks. They were also handing out raffle tickets giving fans waiting in line a chance to win a signed Padres World Series Hat, Signed Padres Wall Clock, Signed Padres Logo Baseball and Signed Padres Trevor Hoffman photo. Today was my lucky day which I will explain later.

In the end there were about 250 fans who showed up. Trevor actually appeared about 20 minutes before the scheduled time of the signing and started to sign away until noon. It was nice he showed up early and signed more than the scheduled time he was supposed to be at the event. I had Trevor sign a ROMLB on the SS. He was nice enough to add the "601" total saves inscription for me as well.

When the signing was over we were instructed that the raffle would take place an hour after the signing. The raffle was being conducted by a local radio station and there were four separate boxes corresponding to which prize you wanted to win. I decided to place most of my raffle tickets into the box to win the signed Trevor Hoffman photo and the box to win the signed Trevor Hoffman Padres World Series Cap. I had no interest in the other two prizes. Today like I mentioned previously was my lucky day. I never win raffles but I ended up winning the signed Trevor Hoffman photo. What was cool was that it came prepared with a frame and everything.

I want to give a shout out to Chris, Phil, Benson and Jordan who were chilling with me in line. It's always fun chatting it up with you guys.

  2. Thanks Josh. Nothing really goes under the radar anymore as I saw about 10-12 LA graphers there as well. Larry was there too selling photos and supplies.

    1. There are a ton of signings this Saturday but I don't plan on attending any of the free signings since I've gotten all those players already. I am planning on going to the Vladimir Guerrero signing at the OC Dugout. It's a paid signing but I need to get my Vlad jersey signed. Then I plan to graph the Dbacks since they are in town
