Phillies Graphing Recap

The Phillies were in town so I decided to get some autographs. Here is a view from my seats.

I love watching free baseball. Here is a photo I took of the Phillies bullpen.

Ryan Howard was cool as he ended up having a signing session for the fans. He literally mingled with everyone and talked about the Clippers and the NBA playoffs for about 15 minutes knocking out multiples for everyone.

Ryan was kind enough to sign two baseballs for me. I wish I had a 2006 AS ball for him for my first all star game project but I ran out of those. Thus I settled for a 2010 AS ball since that's my favorite All Star Game since it was played locally in Anaheim.

Finally I was able to get one of my holy grails which is Ryne Sandberg's autograph on a HOF ball. That pretty much made my night. It's always a good day when you add another HOFer into your collection.

Raul Mondesi Viva Los Dodgers 4-6-14

I decided to hit up Dodgers Stadium for a second day in a row for a brief autograph session with Raul Mondesi. I didn't have tickets to the game so I decided to go check out Raul Mondesi's clothing drive instead at Viva Los Dodgers. Raul was scheduled to sign for fans that brought clothing donations at Viva Los Dodgers today at 3pm. I didn't want to miss this rare opportunity to get Mondesi's autograph. Since he resides in the Domincan Republic serving as a mayor, he is rarely makes public appearances in the US. Thus I couldn't pass this opportunity up.

I arrived at the stadium late due to traffic at around 3pm. Since I hate to pay for parking I decided to park outside at Elysian Park. Luckily I ran into my friend Alan who gave me a ride so I didn't have to walk up that dreaded hill at Dodgers Stadium. Thanks again for the lift Alan.

When I arrived at Viva Los Dodgers it was packed as expected.

Raul Mondesi and Manny Mota were already signing for fans.

I ran into my buddy Manuel who was kind enough to hold down a spot for me in line. Here he is networking with Raul while getting his photo signed. Thanks again Manuel for being the Godfather of graphing.

Raul was kind enough to sign a ROMLB on the sweetspot for me with the "ROY 94" inscription. He also signed a Gold Glove ball for me as well with the "2 Gold Glove" inscription.

It was another quick and easy day of graphing at Dodgers Stadium.

Upcoming Signing: Paul Lo Duca at Dr. Liu's Optometry Office Saturday April 26 10-11am

Dodgers vs Giants Post Game Graphing 4-5-14

I decided to hit up Dodger Stadium for the first time this season for post game graphing with my friend Jose. The goal today was to get my Tim Lincecum jersey signed.

We arrived at the stadium around the 8th inning. The Dodgers ended up doing a ton of renovations this offseason. They added seats overlooking the bullpen as you can see from the photo below.

I wasn't too focused on taking photos today as my focus was on getting Tim Lincecum's autograph on my jersey. Next time I attend a game i'll take more photos of the renovations.

Luck was on my side today as Tim Lincecum immediately signed my jersey as he was walking out of the stadium with Ryan Vogelsong. Tim basically instructed me to hold on to the jersey so he could sign it.

That pretty much made my day. With jerseys you just never know when you will be able to get them signed. Sometimes you end up holding onto the jersey for years before you get them signed. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long to get my Timmy jersey signed.

As a bonus Jose was kind enough to help me get another Lincecum autograph by getting a 2008 All Star ball signed. As everyone knows my goal this year is to get as many commemorative baseballs signed by superstar players specifically their first all star games. Thanks again Jose for helping me out.

Afterwards Buster Posey, Madison Bumgarner, Matt Cain and Tim Hudson walked out of Dodgers Stadium together. I asked Buster Posey to sign a 2012 WS ball for me. Initially I didn't think he was going to sign but surprisingly he picked up my baseball and signed it under the logo. That was the only autograph he signed that day post game. Even though the autograph came out haggard I couldn't complain since Buster is one of the tougher graphs to get in the hobby. It was nice to finally add his autograph to the collection. Getting Buster's autograph was just another bonus to a great day of graphing.

The last autograph was from Coach Bruce Bochy who signed my 2014 Topps Heritage card for me.

Julio Urias/Josh Beckett Rehab Quakes vs SJ Giants Game 4-4-14

Last Friday was the perfect opportunity to attend my first Rancho Cucamonga Quakes game of the year. Loan Mart Field is one of my favorite places to graph minor league baseball and is a great spot to graph current members of the LA Dodgers who are on rehab assignments. Tonight Josh Beckett was scheduled to pitch. I decided to check out the game after work with the goal of getting Julio Urias and Josh Beckett's autograph.

I arrived around 6pm as batting practice already started. As soon as I entered Loan Mart Field the Quakes gave out free magnet schedules.

I headed straight towards the Quakes dugout to try to get Julio Urias' autograph. I figured Josh wouldn't sign during BP since he was already scheduled to pitch.

The first player to sign was Corey Seager who was kind enough to sign my ROMLB on the SS with the "Go Dodgers" inscription.

Julio Urias denied all autograph requests but did promise to sign after the game. Here is Julio chilling in the dugout.

I was a bit worried that he was already big leaguing us even though he is only 17 years old. When you have that amount of talent at a young age you just never know what his agents and handlers are telling him to do. I just hope Urias doesn't turn out like Puig and says the dreaded word "contracto" when we ask for autographs on the SS in the future.

Since there wasn't much graphing going on I decided to take a few photos of Josh Beckett warming up in the bullpen.

Here are the Quakes also observing Beckett pitch.

I met up with my friend Ryan to watch the game. Check out his blog and you can see how much he racked on Beckett that day.

For some reason it was freezing cold on the field today so the game was tough to watch.

As soon as Beckett finished pitching we waited by the Quakes locker room to wait for him to leave. Unfortunately Beckett was skipping baseballs as he was only signing cards and photos. He was in a bad mood since he injured himself during the game and looked like he wasn't in the mood to even sign. Beckett ended up signing about 15 autographs and left promptly. I ended up striking out which wasn't a big deal since I got Josh Beckett's autograph before several times.

After the game we waited for Julio Urias. Surprisingly everyone else had the same idea.

There were at least 50 people waiting for him postgame which is unheard of at minor league games. You see less people postgaming at Angels and Dodger Stadium most of the time.

There is so much hype surrounding Urias as he is projected to be the next Fernando Valenzuela. With him being only 17 with a ton up upside and talent he has a bright future ahead of him. Basically everyone is trying to get his autograph now before the "contracto."

As soon as Julio walked out he was mobbed. Luckily he was cool with the fans. He had a ton of family and friends from Mexico who visited since he made his Quakes Debut tonight. Julio signed autographs for everyone who asked and also took photos as well.

Julio signed three baseballs for me each one with a different variation of inscriptions and was nice enough to take a photo with me as well.

Even though I missed out on Beckett it was otherwise a great day of graphing. I want to give a shout out to the graphing family Ryan, Jeremy, Matt, Jesse, and Clint who were out there with me today standing in the cold getting autographs.
